It rose during prohibition Women's Christian temperance union Taught “scientific facts” like… Die of dropsy (swelling of soft tissue due to high amounts of liquid consumption) If a woman even inhales the vapors of alcohol she would cause three generations of defective offspring SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION!!!!
