  3. The value of this meeting • A great weekend, in a magnificent place and fabulous hospitality • Inspiring lectures and open debate of ideas (in many cases, fortunately, contradictory)

  4. A few concluding remarks: • - Model of universities governance: need to develop strategic planning, with a deep involvement of “Conselhos Gerais” • Need to deepen and respect university autonomy (which comes with responsibility): management of resources, including patrimonial, funding and human resources (culture of merit) • - Triple Helix harmony spaces, involving universities, enterprises and government, in an environment of creativity, freedom of thought and ethical behaviour

A few concluding remarks: • - University Missions: • - Teaching • - Research • - Dissemination (creating economic and culture value, and societal welfare) • Teaching and learning: encourage curiosity, encourage risk taking, non-linear thinking, promote entrepreneurial training and spirit, provide communication skills, ...

  6. A few concluding remarks: • - Research: Integrate “discipline-based” research with “target-oriented” research • Research and Dissemination: Mutual “contamination” between academia and enterprises: promote mobility of researchers (e.g., PhD’s in enterprise environment). Learn each other culture • - Dissemination: Develop professional structures for technology transfer (why not shared structures between universities?)
