  3. Overview of Imparfait • You form Imparfaitby conjugating the verb(s) in the nous form, then drop the “ons” and add the proper Imparfait ending. • The “translation” in a sentence is past tense, but describes what is going on in the background.

Forming past participle régulier irrégulier • For –er verbs, take the infinative, drop the -er, and add –é to the end. • Example: Nous avonsécouté • For –ir verbs, take the infinative, drop the –ir, and add –ito the end. • Example: J’aifini • For –re verbs, take the infinative, drop the –re, and add –u to the end. • Example: Il a vendu • This is tricky.
