Observation: Ideal sidewalks accommodate multiple pedestrians and should allow two wheelchairs to pass.
Observation: Incomplete sidewalks make it challenging for pedestrians to safely navigate the city on foot.
Observation: Incomplete sidewalks and unmarked crossings create challenges for pedestrians and the disabled.
Observation: Railroad crossings present unique challenges for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.
Observation: Additional railroad crossing signage geared towards pedestrians and cyclists would be helpful.
Observation: Older neighborhoods were not required to have complete sidewalks for pedestrians.
Observation: A lack of clearly marked bike lanes force cyclists to use unsafe paths to get around town.
Observation: Many alleys are missing ramps, this creates a challenge for people with strollers and the disabled.
Observation: Many streets are missing a sidewalk or have incomplete sidewalks on one side of the street.
Observation: New sidewalks added to this street greatly increased the safely of children walking to school.
Observation: To be effective street signage must be kept visible and not be hidden by trees or hedges.
Observation: Too much space between crosswalks encourages pedestrians to cross the street at unmark areas.
Observation: No sidewalks on either side of the streets make it dangerous for children walking to and from school.
Observation: New signage in “hi-vis” neon yellow is more visible than traditional safety yellow.
Observation: Multi-striped crossing areas are more visible than tradition two striped cross walks.
Observation: Crosswalks in high foot traffic areas near schools need access ramps and sidewalks on both sides.
Observation: This busy intersection has nice new signage but would benefit from updating the 2 stripe crosswalk.
Observation: Cars parked blocking the sidewalk create a hazard for pedestrians forcing them to walk in the street.
Observation: Simple improvements can create a much safer and walkable community for residents of Lompoc!
