State Fire Training State Fire Marshal The statutory authority for State Fire Training can be found in the Health and Safety Code Sections 13140-13159.10. These sections include training in a wide range of subject areas, and to establish the training and certification of California’s fire service community.

Course Delivery State Fire Training Currently, State Fire Training has 23 Certification Tracks with 67 required classes. Changes underway for certification tracks and the number of classes required . . . 186 new Instructors in 2008 442 students attended RIO in 2008

Quality Assurance Blueprint 2020 Implement an oversight program that ensures the qualifications, currency, and accountability of all instructors and curriculum. This effort also includes improved course material, course delivery and instructor registration.
National Model Blueprint 2020 • Participate in the Fire and Emergency Services Higher Education (FESHE) National Model of fire service training and education. • Features of the National Model contains: • A competency-based system of fire and emergency services professional development • A system of higher education from a two year Associate degree to Doctoral degrees.

Capstone Testing Blueprint 2020 Capstone testing requires comprehensive testing upon the completion of all pre-requisite training and an application by the candidate for certification.
Automate Business & Training Blueprint 2020 • Automation of SFT business processes and training delivery includes: • Delivery of appropriate distance learning training and education material (Hybrid –Online) • Tracking of, and access to, completed training and certification for individuals, training officers and department leadership • Testing processes

Public Safety Training Blueprint 2020 An all risk California Public Safety Institute (a California equivalent of the federal National Emergency Training Center) that would create a unified system that integrates all public safety training and education toward a common long range goal: to build an institute into a recognized four-year type college/university campus.
