Middle Fork Mining Lands Facts • Covers over 360 acres in northern Feathers Falls County • First mining camps established in 1849 • Grew to be the largest established mining encampment in the state by 1861 • In its prime, the Middle Fork camps included over 100 buildings and shops • Took out over 80 million in gold ore (750 million today)

HLP Society Positions • Historic Middle Fork mining camps/lands are not being actively protected • Abandoned by federal and local governments • Over 705 of the original buildings are destroyed • Human presence is harmful to area • Need preservation plan ASAP or will lose all evidence of camps within 10 years
