Periodic Table • The periodic table is a table of chemical elements. • The atomic number tells us how many protons there are • The group number tell us how many electrons in the outer shell • The period number tells us how many electron shells there are • The more electron shells there are, the easier is to lose a electron • As you go across a period, it changes from a metal on the left to a non-metal on the right
Period 1,2,7 and 0 • Period 1 is the Alkaline metal and have 1 electron in the outer shell • Period 2 is the Alkaline earth metal and have 2 electrons in the outer shell • Period 7 are the Halogens and have 7 electrons in the outer shell • Period 0 are the Noble gases and they are not reactive.
