  2. Setting Of Story This took place way back to World War II. The war has just ended and the family in this story went to Palm Beach on vacation to celebrate and to get away. When they get there they stay at this fancy hotel near the ocean.

  3. Main Characters Evelyn (Evie)(Main Character) Has brown hair and black eyes she is very pretty but she doesn’t think so herself.IN this book she is torn between love and her family. Peter (Lover) Peter was a is a ex-GI he served in the military. This is the guy that Evie likes but there is a twist in this story he loves her mother not Evie. HE has this Movie-Star handsome look that Evie just loves. Joe(Step-Father)Joe served in the military too, Evie loves her step-father better then her real father. Even though he is nice doesn’t mean he is sometimes mean because he is when he came back from the war. Beverly(Mother)Is very pretty and has a nasty secret she cheated on her husband with the guy that Evie loves.

  4. Plot • A family of three went to Palm Beach to celebrate because Worlds War II has just ended. When they get there they think what they do there no one has to know about it so they keep it a secret but secrets can’t hide forever. Everyone they met lied to them in some what way or form. Love is broken, Family’s are torn apart and a life is lost.

  5. Plot(Resolution) • Evie finds out every secret there is to know about what happened in the war and about her family and about the Jews. She knows that after everything she knows she not a little girl anymore she knows she has to grow up and to stop living a Childs life.

  6. My Opinion • I liked this book I mean yes at some point I got tired of it but that’s only because I read it everyday some readers have to take a break once in awhile. But over all I liked it some people say books get them hooked well this booked got me hooked.

  7. My Author She got inspired in New York City to write What I Saw and How I Lied because there was a lot of teens around her that didn’t know what was happening around them. She wrote book for middle school and up. She wrote another book called Strings Attached. She helped write one of the books for 39 clues. She has a husband and a little girl who she always get inspired by.

  8. Questions Why did Evie go to Peter’s house that night? Because she was worried about him and wanted to see him. Does Evie like Joe? Sometimes but not all the time. Did Evie forgive her mom after what happened? No. Evie never liked her mom after what happened. Did Evie love Peter? Yes. With all her heart since the moment she saw him. Did Peter ever loved Evie? No. To him she was just a kid but in the end he used her.

  9. Summary After World War II a family of three go to Palm Beach to celebrate and to get away. They think that secrets can stay hidden forever but as soon as they get there all there secrets spill out.
