Presentation ELP CPP • From Alert Carry • From Ready • From Ready • From Holster • Holster presentation – two opportunities to sweep safety. • Reinforces balance between speed and accuracy.
Engagement Techniques Precision Shot • Sight alignment is more critical the smaller the target and the greater the distance to the target. • In these situations, the slow fire technique is used: • - Thumbcock the pistol for a single action shot. • Close one eye and focus on the front sight. • Fire one well-aimed, precision shot on the target.
2 1 Engagement Techniques Controlled Pair • Two aimed shots fired upon a target in rapid succession. • A sight picture is acquired on both shots. • Two shots increase the trauma (i.e., shock, blood loss) on the target.
3 2 1 Engagement Techniques Failure to Stop • If the target still poses a threat after two shots, conduct a Failure to Stop. • Two shots fired to the chest followed by a slow fire, precision shot to an alternate aiming area.
Reloads ELP CPP • Dry reload • Condition 1 reload • Speed reload • Tactical reload • Procedures are the same. • Difference in workspace; CPP workspace is higher.
Actions Taken Upon Assessingthe Situation • If the threat has not been eliminated: • Reengage. • Seek cover. • Seek support. • If the fight is over: • Conduct a chamber check. • Determine condition of weapon. • Conduct a reload. • Holster.
Corrective Action ELP CPP • Remedial Action • Corrective Action • Slide is forward • Visible obstruction • CMC Corrective Action includes user serviceability inspection. • Ties to shooter-induced stoppages and mechanical failure of pistol. • Shows CMC why stoppage occurred and what to look for and how to teach shooter how to avoid stoppages.
Dry Practice and Evaluation • MTC CMT’s provide EDIP Instruction • Scripts for EDIP Instruction provided in student binder • T3 Students practice in groups. • Final Evaluation (Thursday) after ISMT
