CSU’s HDVC Experience • Conducted competitive bid for LifeSize “Room” or equivalent • Accommodate Ft. Collins, Denver, Pueblo • Winning bid was $10,200 per unit, plus $2,300 per unit for 3-year hardware (NBD) and software service agreement • Sony 52” Bravia XBR monitors added $3500 ea. • Using the system since April
CSU (Cont’d) • Needed something now • LifeSize had the most mature product • Very high quality video and audio • On-site demos were convincing
Features • Supported multiple displays • Built-in MCU • Relatively simple to operate • High quality PTZ cameras • Good microphones & audio quality (16 Khz) • Executive approval
Observations and Conclusions • Some startup problems • RMA’ed early microphone discs • Misc. software issues quickly resolved • Software updates may require erasing configs • Legacy Polycom systems less “automatic” • High definition calls are impressive • No experience yet with non-LifeSize HD units
Conclusions (Cont’d) • Two 52" displays good for VC, a bit small for spreadsheets, etc. • Support has been responsive & effective • First line from GBH • LifeSize engineers very good • Overall, very satisfied • End-users placing calls, enjoying benefits • Fort Collins added 1 unit, Pueblo added 3
