National Parks Two purposes, the first includes: to conserve and enhance natural beauty, wildlife……. The 2nd relates to public enjoyment… AONBs One purpose: to conserve and enhance the natural beauty* of the area. *‘natural beauty’ is further defined by statute to include wildlife Purposes
Rules for others A general duty is placed on all relevant authorities, to have regard to these purposes when coming to decisions or carrying out their activities relating to or affecting land within National Parks/AONBs. Relevant authorities are expected to be able to demonstrate that they have fulfilled this duty
