  2. The Facts About Ma-Ku • Ma-Ku was known as the goddess of spring. • She was known for her beauty and kindness. • Ma-Ku tried to bring peace to her lands. • Ma-Ku was also known as the goddess of the rain clouds.

  3. The Powers of Ma-Ku • She was also known for taking all of the land around her and planting mulberry trees. • The mulberry trees were a symbol for peacefulness. • She planted these trees to bring the peacefulness of spring to troubled lands.

Additional Information • Ma-Ku was actually a Chinese fairy who rode on the backs of butterflies and moths. • Fairies were known as the souls of the dead who have died before their appointed time. • Ma-Ku lived in the 2nd century AD. • She was a beneficent sorceress who reclaimed a large area of land from the sea and converted it into mulberry orchards.
