ABOUT THE SPEAKER MR. TERENCE CHAU (周錦浩), AASFP Program Director & Principal Lecturer MSports Physio, B.Sc. Physio, Dip. Acupuncture, RPT (HK, Aust.) Terence Chau is the Program Director and Principal Lecturer at the Academy of Asian Sports & Fitness Professions (AASFP) which has blossomed to be one of the most prominent and reputable fitness education and training institute in Asia. Being the Program Director of the Academy, Terence accomplishments included the successful launching of education and training programs throughout Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Thailand and Taiwan and had nurtured thousands of fitness professionals in the industry. Terence is also the Honorable Advisor of the Yijin Project, CityU SCOPE and part time lecturer of the Master Program in HKU and HKU SPACE. In addition, Terence also played an active role in organizing the Annual Fitness Conference – the Asian Fitness Education Expo (AFEEX) held in Beijing since 2004. The objective of the Conference is to bring fitness professionals the latest and most innovative fitness training techniques and up-to-date club management information. Led by fitness experts invited from all over the world, fitness professionals in Asia came together each year and experienced the most highly anticipated event in the Asian fitness calendar. Terence is also a Consultant in strategic planning of fitness programs and the management of fitness centers. Concurrently, Terence is also a practicing Sports Physiotherapy Consultant at the Asian Fitness Therapy Center (AFTC). Terence formally served as the Physiotherapy Manager at the Matilda International Hospital (Hong Kong), Education Officer for the Hong Kong Physiotherapy Association’s Sports Specialty Group and was a Visiting Lecturer at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s Department of Rehabilitation Science. Terence obtained his Bachelor Degree in Physiotherapy in Hong Kong, his Master’s Degree in Sports Physiotherapy in Australia and Diploma in Acupuncture in China. Terence is an avid sports enthusiast and won first place at the 1996 Hong Kong Doubles Rowing (Lightweight Category) tournament. Terence is a certified rowing coach through HKSDB, a Resistance Training Instructor through HKPFA and a Certified Pilates Instructor through B.E.T. (Biokinetik Exercise Techniques, rehabilitation based on the Pilates method) and has been practicing since 1999. His areas of interests include Anatomy, Biomechanics, Sports Injuries Prevention/ Rehabilitation, Special Population and Physical Conditioning. During these three years, Terence had done close to 60 interviews for newspapers and periodicals and is also a regular guest speaker of a weekly fitness program in Metro Radio. He is also the editor of the book "Steps to Fitness" which will be published soon.
