“Who am I…?” • Shiraz Khan • 4th Year Dental Student • Studying at the University of Birmingham, UK. • Secretary of the U21 UNMDG student committee.
What is the U21 UNMDG…? • The U21 UNMDG group is a multi-disciplinary health sciences group, which includes dentistry, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, health and rehabilitation sciencesand public health. • The objective is to engage faculty members and students to develop educational materials which can facilitate UNMDG activity at both local and global levels. • The student committee was first formed in 2008 with at least one student from each university which is involved with the U21 UNMDG initiative.
What do we do…? • Monthly teleconferences (usually using Skype) • Exchange of ideas and sharing of local projects. • Facilitate development of case studies. • Development of the student projects. • Development of the U21 UNMDG student guide. • Attendance to workshops and meetings.

Competitions for students… • In 2011, U21 UNMDG held a photo competition for the best photo. This appeared on the front cover of the student guide. • This year we are running a video competition. • Are you able to demonstrate how you are undertaking MDG activity?? If so, why not document it and send it in with a chance to win $750 towards your flight to the UNMDG workshop in Auckland in September?
