Our experience shows that a flying restart can be done when voltage dip or interruption duration is up to 1 second Using ride-through functions of the frequency converter. Undervoltage relay and a timer may be necessary.
In longer voltage dips or interruptions, the solution used most often is adding external batteries connected to the DC link. In certain applications the converter can be feed by a small battery using a boost converter allowing safety manoeuvres.
