PROJECT PURPOSE • The purpose of this project was to research the feasibility/viability and risk/reward factor of launching a collateral marketing company that caters towards small businesses • To be prepared for a successful launch by April 30th 2014
ACTIVITIES INVOLVED • Researched marketing industry patterns, market wants/needs, sector competition, sector suppliers, permits/insurance, total costs involved • Planned delivery routes, pricing strategies, operational strategies, marketing strategies • Attended and networked at multiple events
MY GOALS FOR GRASSROOTS MRK • Help educate neighbourhoods on how to be more small business friendly • Promote neighbourhood connectedness and growth throughout Toronto • Help small businesses achieve higher sales • Make a profit of $15,000 from April 31 – Sept 1

WHAT I LEARNED • Utilize free tools, resources and organizations • People are generally willing to help and give free advice • Good time management is crucial for success • Set realistic time frames • Listen and react to the feedback people give • Move forward when you get stuck, then come back to overcome the obstacle

CONCLUSION The Project: • Was a great learning experience • Gave me a chance to bring an idea of mine to life • Forced me to make new and interesting contacts for the future • Allowed me to apply my time towards something useful – educational and practical
