The Fourteen Points • Created by US President Woodrow Wilson in January 1918 • A list of his terms for ending this and future wars • Called for freedom of the seas, free trade, large-scale reduction of arms, an end to secret treaties • Self-determinism for Eastern Europe • Urged for the creation of a general association of nations – League of Nations • The ideal situation

  2. Victory at Last • March-July 1918, Germany launched a huge attack that pushed the Allies back 40 miles • U.S. arrived and the Allies launched a counterattack; forced German generals to admit that the war could not be won

  3. Kaiser William II stepped down after uprisings in Germany • Austria-Hungary collapsing, and Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire asked for peace • New German government sought an armistice with the Allies • On 11 A.M. on November 11, 1918, the Great War ended
