The paralytic man Mark 2:1--12
What would you do if you came to church to pray and the doors were locked?
Jesus was in Capernaum Jesus started preaching A large crowd gathered in the house Pharisees Followers Background
4 men carrying a paralytic entered the house through the roof. Son, your sins are forgiven you.
Against the Pharisees laws! They think only God can forgive sins. They don’t believe that Jesus is God. Why does this Man speak blasphemies like this? Who can forgive sins but God alone?
What do you think is easier? Why do you reason about these things in your hearts?Which is easier, to say to the paralytic,‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise, take up your bed and walk’
But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.
Amazement ≠ Belief Many were amazed, few believed. We never saw anything like this!
Compassion (we must help others in need) Faith (You need to have faith, but it has to be accepted through Jesus Christ) We must seek Jesus actively We can bring other people to Jesus Unity and teamwork Creativity in bringing others to Jesus Jesus has power over sin We have to watch our thoughts (and actions) What did we learn today?
