Positive Behavior Supports • Positive Behavior Supports: Research-based strategies used to increase quality of life and decrease problem behavior by teaching new skills and making changes in a person’s environment. • Valued outcomes • Behavioral and biomedical science • Validated procedures • Systems change to enhance quality of life and reduce problem behaviors
Universal Design for Learning • Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a set of principles for designing curriculum that provides all individuals with equal opportunities to learn. • Multiple means of representation, to give learners various ways of acquiring information and knowledge. • Multiple means of expression, to provide learners alternatives for demonstrating what they know. • Multiple means of engagement, to tap into learners’ interest, offer appropriate challenges, and increase motivation.
Collaboration is thought by professionals in inclusive schools to be the KEY to their success.
