Crime Facts • There is a lot of crime in El Salvador and it occurs 24 hours a day. • El Salvador has the second highest per capita murder rate in the world. • There was an increase in neighborhood watch groups employing security guards and police patrols. • Extortion is really common which include cold calls from gang members. Small business owners and bus drivers are some victims of extortion.
