Primary Industries • Some public industries in El Salvador are transportation like railways, roadways, and airports which give people the chance to move from place to place. • There is a communication industry giving the ability of having telephones, radios, and internet. An important industry is energy that provides the cities and homes with electricity.

  9. Employment Levels • the unemployment rate is 2012 est. was 6.90%. • The unemployment for youths ages 15-24 is 11.7% in 2007. and for female 8.3% (2007). The child labor ages 5-14 is a total of 179,303 (4%). • For male 13 % (2007) • female 8.3% (2007)

Government Type • The government type that El Salvador has is Republican. • El Salvador’s capital is San Salvador. • They got their independence from Spain on September 15, 1821. • They celebrate their independence on September 15. • Their constitution was formed in 1983. • Carlos Mauricio (the president) is both the chief of the state and head of government. • The president and vice president are voted for a single five year term.

Crime Facts • There is a lot of crime in El Salvador and it occurs 24 hours a day. • El Salvador has the second highest per capita murder rate in the world. • There was an increase in neighborhood watch groups employing security guards and police patrols. • Extortion is really common which include cold calls from gang members. Small business owners and bus drivers are some victims of extortion.
