Cheshire & Merseyside Specialised Services Commissioning Team Incorporating Secure Mental Health Pathways Through Secure Care • All “regions” need secure service strategies • NW Secure Partnership/Catchment Group leads the development of the North West strategy • 2 rounds of stakeholder events Autumn 2005 and Spring 2006 • Strategy now complete and being issued • Looks 2006-2011 • It has two components • Strategy • Action Plan – annual review • Next step – workplan for secure commissioning system and monitoring progress by Catchment Group
Cheshire & Merseyside Specialised Services Commissioning Team Incorporating Secure Mental Health Pathways through Secure Care Influences on strategy: • Comments from stakeholder events • NW Secure Partnership/Catchment Group • National Capacity Planning work • Local needs assessment/demand • Understanding of use of services, NHS and independent sector, review of gaps in service type as well as overall capacity • Policy influences eg prison transfers

Action Plan • Identifies areas for action to implement strategic plan • Issues in strategy should all be addressed in the action plan • Forms Workplan for Catchment Group and commissioners • Links to local work and action • Collaborative effort needed to deliver the strategy
Cheshire & Merseyside Specialised Services Commissioning Team Incorporating Secure Mental Health Pathways through Secure Care • Strategy is now finalised • Implementation to be overseen by Catchment Group • Continue with regular stakeholder events • Formal annual review of the action plan • Revised action plan to be produced each year • Next review of strategy 2010/11
