Summary of activities • Reviewed and updated previous charter to: • Ensure alignment with the subcommittee's current and planned activities • Incorporate 2015 ‘ GAO Report on Geospatial Data’ recommendations into the subcommittee’s scope of work
Summary of activities (cont’d) • Final draft charter cleared by DOT’s Office of the General Counsel • A vote to forward the charter to the FGDC Steering Committee to be held during the next subcommittee meeting (4/11)
USRN Goals/objectives • Propose & finalize core attributes • Develop, refine, and adopt a data model • Develop and finalize roadway theme specifications for incorporation into the NSDI
What’s in a name? • The Working Group’s efforts will ultimately result in a product that will now be referred to as the: “The U.S. Road Network (USRN) Minimum Content Guideline Specification”
Canadian Government presented their national road network (NRN) to the Subcommittee on 2/7/2018 • Working Group discussed the Canadian NRN on 2/23/2018 • Proposal to adopt the model that supports the Canadian NRN “O Canada”?
Likely benefits of network adoption: • Standards associated with the model have already been accepted • Initiates an effort to achieve international network interoperability • Begins to establish a “data centric”, as opposed to an “application centric” development model • A vote will be taken on 4/11/2018 to determine the potential path forward “O Canada”?
