  3. Graduations Requirements • Review the Requirements in the Program of Study • Program of Study is located on Franklin website • Refer to Scheduling Memo

  4. Credit Requirements • You must have 23 credits to graduate • You must meet all Michigan Merit Curriculum requirements ***Refer to Scheduling Memo*** • If you are short credits, please see your counselor to discuss recovery options

Night School Credit Recovery • Spring Mini SessionMay 2 – June 6 • Cost is $230.00 per class • Classes meet FOUR evenings a week: 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. • Classes are held at Cass Elementary • Some classes are on-line • You must be 16 years of age on the first day of school in September of 2018 to attend • See your Guidance Counselor for more details

  6. Summer School 2019 Classes meet 5 weeks Monday through Thursday Cost to be determined in June A maximum of 2 classes can be taken Attendance: You cannot miss more that two classes or you will lose your money and credit Registration Packets will be available from your Guidance Counselor No transportation will be provided

New Class & UpDate NEW Computer Science Principles This course is a stepping stone along the STEM Pathway and will be based upon Project Lead the Way… CSP will foster creativity and enhance skills of collaboration. Students will use what they have learned to tackle challenges such as app development & simulation. UPDATE AP Psychology is a FULL-Year Course

Skilled Trades Internship • Receive hands-on experience and training while earning high school credit. • Requirements of the program • Minimum GPA of 2.0 • Completed Application due May 1st to Counselor • Two Educator Recommendation Forms • One Counselor Recommendation Form • Willingness to work after school • A valid Driver’s License and transportation

  22. NCAA • If you plan to participate in Division I or II athletics while attending college, review the NCAA eligibility requirements in the Program of Study. • This information is also available at www.eligibilitycenter.org • Courses and SAT/ACT scores defined for both D1 and D2 Schools

  23. Things to Remember While Scheduling… • Any failed classes that may need to be rescheduled for credit • This year, more than ever, it is your responsibility to plan the appropriate course of study Ask Questions!!

  24. Scheduling Process • Review Programs of Study • Choose classes on practice course request • Bring signed course request on assigned day to Literature class • Meet with counselor during assigned Literature class date

College Bound Graduates… • Recommendation: Enroll in four academic courses ALL four years of high school: English Sequenced Courses Mathematic Sequenced Courses Science Electives Social Studies Electives World Language beyond two years College bound students need to earn more academic credit to be prepared for college work.

  28. Post Secondary Options… • Certificate Programs – Usually completed within in one to two years. • Examples: Electrician, Paralegal & Heavy Equipment Operator

  29. Post Secondary Options… • Associates Degree: often required for technical fields, but students can also pursue two-year degrees in business or other professional careers.

  30. Post Secondary Options • Bachelor’s Degree: • undergraduate academic degree awarded by colleges and universities upon completion of a course of study lasting three to seven years (depending on institution and academic discipline).

  33. Career Counselor Mrs. Strohbeck works at Franklin High School 1 day a week in the Counseling Office.

Career Counselor Sign up to see Mrs. Strohbeck through your counselor -Work with students who do not know what they want to do after graduation and make an Action Plan! -Work with students who know they do not want to attend a 4-year university! -Help with applications for apprenticeships, community college, trade schools, and financial aid completion. Work with students who want to learn about careers in the professional trades: -Construction -Medical Assistants -Information Technology: computer coder, networking -Manufacturing -Electricians, plumbers, pipefitters, heating & cooling -Cosmetology -Public Safety: Law enforcement, Firefighting, EMS
