Mouth • The opening in the lower mouth, surrounded by lips, which food is eaten. Also, you can speak with the mouth.
Stomach The interal organ is the first part when the digestion occurs. A pear shaped enlargement of the stomach.
Esophagus The part of the alimentary canal that connects the throat to the stomach.
Small Intestine • The part of the intestine that goes between the stomach and the large intestine; the duodenum, jejunum and ileum collectively.
Large Intestine • The cecum,colon, and rectum collectively.
Liver The liver is used to clean your blood cells. It also digestive products, and neutralizingtoxins.
Appendix • A tube-shaped sac attached to the opening into the lower end of the large intestine.
Pancreas • A large gland behind the stomach that secretes digestive enzymes
Enzymes • Any numerous proteins or conjugated proteins produced by living things and functioning as biochemical catalysts.
Bile Duct • A bile duct is a number of long tube-like structures that carry bile.
Mucus • Mucus is a slippery secretion that is produced by, covering mucous membranes.
Chemical digestion • Digestion is the mechanical and chemical breaking down of food into smaller pieces that can be absorbed into a blood stream.
Absorption • The process or action by which one thing absorbs or is absorbed by another: "
Mechanical Digestion • The breaking of food into digestible chunks, normally using teeth.
Salivary Amylase • Amylase is an enzyme that breaks starch down into sugar. Amylase is present in human saliva, where it begins the chemical process.
Villi • Any of numerous minute elongated projections set closely together on a surface.
Gastric juices • A thin, clear, virtually colorless acidic fluid secreted by the stomach glands.
Duodenum • The first part of the small intestine immediately beyond the stomach, leading to the jejunum.
Chyme • The pulpy acidic fluid that passes from the stomach to the small intestine, consisting of partly digested food.
