Ongoing Data Review What data would the region like to receive on a routine basis?
Recovery of Organs for Research • During the Regional Meeting, attendees agreed that: • It was reasonable for the OPO to request that the recovery team recover research organs • The OPO would inform the team prior to entering the OR of the request • If the recovery team could not recover research organs they would inform the OPO at the time of the request (prior to OR) • Discussion
Liver/Kidney Allocation • Regional allocation agreement • If a Liver candidate has a MELD of 35+ and is also listed for a kidney, the OPO should offer both the liver and kidney to the listing center • This agreement will be reviewed once KAS is implemented and paybacks are no longer part of the system • Implementation of KAS slated for mid December 2014
Quarterly Liver Program Call • Establish a regional liver program and OPO quarterly conference call • Purpose of the call • Review updated data on regional listing, allocation and transplant • Regional After Action Case Review • Review and discuss challenging allocation cases between regional partners • Transplant Centers and OPOs would submit cases through the OPO for addition to the agenda • Develop a standard reporting form for case submission
Liver Acquisition Charges • During the regional meeting, a request was made to develop a summary of each OPOs liver acquisition charge • Each regional OPO will share this data individually with a transplant program upon request
Closing Summary • Developed regional data points for quarterly review • Reviewed guidance on recovering organs for research upon request • Shared regional liver/kidney allocation practices • Discussed the development of a quarterly regional Liver Program and OPO conference call • Provided information on how transplant centers can obtain liver acquisition charges
