Protected Transponded SATCOM Pilot (PTSP) Study Extracts From the Test Report Presentation
PTSP Test & Demonstration Objective • Evaluate Interference rejection of TRANSEC controlled frequency hopping plan against the following jamming scenarios: • Broad band AWGN • Partial Band: AWGN at 25%, 50%, and 75% of the BW • Partial Time – • 50% duty cycle binary (on/off) random number generator • Fixed pulse width at fixed intervals targeting timing and synchronization • Test Applications • VoIP, VideoIP, FTP, HTTP, UDP/IP text messaging
Test and Demonstration Configuration • Network of four user terminals, one master reference terminal and one controller hosted on a sun workstation • Each user terminal is connected to a PC providing the I/O • Jammer Simulator • AWGN generator • Pulse generator (gates noise using solid state switch) • Three 32 MHz wide Bandpass Filters centered at 1100, 1140 and 1180 MHz • Channel Model – Combiner, Splitter, AWGN generator • Test done at IF
Test Controller Showing Modem Error Information Tab • LabView controller manages all of the test bed components • telnet to modems to collect error info • GPIB to pulse generator & spectrum analyzer • Simulated jammer power & system noise power controlled by PC link to variable attenuators • Test Mode • Modem error info & simulated noise data are output to excel • Presentation mode • Real time snap shot every 10 seconds
