  4. PRETREATMENT In thefirststep a progressiveselectionismadetoeleminatetheforeignbodieswhich are in thewater. Chlorine gas ordilutedpermanganatepotassium are used in thefirstphase of cleaning.

  5. DECANTATION Once thewaterisfocculated, itgoestothesedimentationcontainers. They are calleddecanters, wheretheflocs are separatedbecause of thegravityaction. Themudsettled at thebottom of thedecanterisextractedthroughthepurge line.

  6. Themudfromthepurge of thedecanters, as well as thewashingfilters are carriedtothemudthickener. Theconcentratedsludgeispumped up to a centrifigalequipmentwhichallowsto reduce theamount of waterwhichis in thesludge, therebythevolume of waterisreduced and itmakeseasiertohandle and itstransportischeaper.
