Course Description • This course is the second half of a two year program in Global History. We begin with the Enlightenment and Revolutions during the 17th century and continue chronologically through modern times. • There will be a comprehensive Regents Examination in June based on material from both freshman and sophomore years of study. • Homework is posted on the web page and sent out via Twitter • Regents Review will be offered after school beginning in May
Supplies • Students will be required to come to class prepared each day with a pen, pencil, highlighter, and binder • Texts can be left at home. Students will be told in advance when to bring them in. Copies of the text are available in the library for student use. • It is recommended that students purchase the Prentice Hall Regents Review Book. It will be sold in school in the spring.
Grading Policy • Exams(55%) will be given every 2-3 weeks and are always announced well in advance. • Quizzes(25%) will be given regularly (both announced and unannounced). • Homework (20%)will be assigned regularly and graded. • late homework WILL NOT be accepted unless a student was legally absent • Essays, both Thematic and Document-Based, will be assigned each quarter. Students are encouraged to utilize the Writing Center for assistance. • Research Paper- all 10th grade students are required to write a research paper during the spring semester. Our librarians will walk the students through the various components in a step-by-step process. *grades are available via the parent portal at any time parents would like to check *homework assignments and test dates are posted on my web page and updated weekly
