Integrated Service Enhance IP service model Reserve resources under best-effort IP model Similar to virtual circuits in ATM Soft state vs. hard state Protocols and mechanisms Routing protocol to determine flow paths across the network Signalling protocol to set-up/tear-down per-flow state Admission control scheme to determine whether there is enough resource inside the network Packet classifier to associate packet to relevant flow Traffic control mechanisms to determine packet transmission or dropping according to per-flow state 4
