  2. Euro 2012 • Championship will take place in Warsaw, Gdańsk, Poznań and Wrocław. Two additional stadiums will be prepared in Kraków and Chorzów, • Main responsibility for the organisation of Euro 2012 belongs to the Inter-ministerial Organisational Committee, chaired by the Prime Minister.

  3. MRD and Euro 2012 • Organisation of Euro 2012 will be significantly supported from the EU structural funds, • Measures within the competencies of the Ministry of Regional Development (MRD) will play the key role in implementation of a complexive strategy of organisation of the tournament, worked out by the Inter-ministerial Organisational Committee.

  4. Investment priorities (1) • MRD has prepared a strategic document which: • Identifies investment priorities, • Highlights general rules of financing investments for the Euro 2012 from the EU funds, • Provides for possibility of introducing appropriate changes to indicative lists of key projects for specific operational programs, implemented within the framework of the National Strategic Reference Framework 2007-2013, • Provides for analysis of current legal system and proposals of new solutions, which would faciliate the investment processes.

Investment priorities (2) • Transport infrastructure – crucial areas • Road and railway connections between relevant cities, • Connections with neighbouring countries, especially with Ukraine, • Public transport and integrated systems of traffic management in the cities, • Modernisation of airports and their accessibility in the relevant cities, • Modernisation of cross-border passages.

  6. Investment priorities (3) • „Systemic issues” • Integrated system of medical assistance, • Systems of crisis management, • Technologically advanced systems ensuring proper services for guests and journalists, • Holistic promotional project related to Euro 2012 and tourist attractions in the hosting cities and regions.

  7. Investment priorities (4) • Tourism and accomodation • Creation of a single system of sevice for the „Euro guests”, • Creation of an integrated system of tourist information about the regions and cities hosting the tournament, including possibility of room bookings and transport reservations via Internet, • Creation of a unified network of tourism and culture information points, including connection of the points which have so far operated independently, • Sales of match tickets and transport tickets via Internet.

  8. Investment priorities (4) • Stadiums and supplementary infrastructure • Building/modernisation of stadiums and supplementary infrastructure (training and accomodation facilities for sportsmen).

MRD working groups (1) • Working groups created by the MRD in relation to the Euro 2012 • stadiums and sports infrastructure • tourist and accomodation infrastructure • „soft” and systemic projects • transport infrastructure related to connections between the • relevant cities • 5. transport infrastructure within the cities • 6. horizontal issues

  10. Tasks of the working groups • To point Euro-related investments that will be placed on the lists of key projects within the specific operational programmes, • To propose possible modifications to the operational programmes.

  11. Tasks of the „horizontal” working group • To identify legal, organisational and institutional problems that could have a negative impact on preparation and implementation of Euro-related projects, • To propose solulutions to the identified problems.

  12. MRD working groups (2) • Work within the groups • The groups include representatives of: • Hosting cities, • Relevant Marshall and Voivodship Offices, • Ministries of: sport, transport, health, economy, internal affairs, • Relevant departments in the Ministry of Regional Development, • Key institutions responsible for the development of transport infrastructure (GDDKiA, PKP PLK). • The ultimate lists of projects are going to be prepared until 30 June. In July 2007 the lists will be transmitted to the Inter-ministerial Organisational Committee.
