Questions??? • Please save questions until the end of the slide
Daily Folders (Green Folder) • Please check your child’s folder daily. • There are 2 pockets -*Return and -*Take home. • There is a zipper pouch for notes. • This folder will contain a zip-lock bag for lunch money ( in zipper pouch) • Homework is due every Friday.
Graded Papers Folder(Yellow Folder) • This folder will come home occasionally with your child’s graded papers. • Attached to the graded papers is a Graded Paper Log- stapled to front. • The Graded Paper Log will have your child’s recorded grades for each subject/test we took that week. • You will need to sign the log and return it to school along with the yellow folder. • The tests are yours to keep. • I do make mistakes- if something is graded wrong let me know.
Homework • Homework will go home at the beginning of every week. • Do it how you wish- finish it at once, do it a day at a time. • Homework is due every Friday. • These assignments will ABSOLUTELY prepare your child for his/her tests that week. • Complete the Reading Log
Reading LogHomework • PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! Complete the reading log. • Read to your child or have them read to you for at least 5-15 minutes a day. • Think out-loud with them. Common CoreDaily 5 • No, we don’t just play all day…. • The new Common Core teaching standards are keeping us busy, sure 7 hours is a lot, but its tough to squeeze everything in. • We have 5 centers we visit daily *Writing*Word-Work *read to self *read to others *Listening We Love Common Core!!
Daily 5 Centers • Read to self-Students read different genres of books to themselves • Read to others- Students work with a partner to practice their reading skills. • Listening- Students listen to books on CD while following along in their books. • Writing- Students will work with Mrs. Lori to write on different topics daily. • Word Work- Students will practice spelling, strengthening vocabulary, using dictionaries/thesaurs, and more.
Behavior • Each day your child starts off with their clip at “ready to learn”. • Based on the choices they make throughout the day, they can move their clip up or down . • We believe in positive reinforcement. • Your child will be rewarded daily for good choices. • Our last option for negative behavior is parent contact. This could be a “Making Smart Choices” note, phone call, or conference.
