Volunteers • Anyone that would like to volunteer-for anything-I need you! • 2 volunteers on Mondays-Baggy Books (30 minutes) (11:00-11:30) • 3 volunteers on Fridays-Centers (1 ½ hours) (9-10:30) • 1 volunteer Monday-Friday-Reading Circles (30 minutes)(12:15-12:45) • 1 volunteer on Tuesday and Wednesday-Light Steps (10:45-11:30) • My volunteer rep will call you with more details
Planners We write in them each Monday morning The planner needs to stay in their backpack Please write their reading minutes and sign it each day
Raz-Kids • Computer, Self Paced/At Home Reading Program • Students can choose to listen, read or record books on their reading level. • They retell the story in their own words • They take a test on the story they read • They earn stars to buy items for their rocket
Light Steps to Reading • Self-Paced Phonics Program • Follow the schedule to be done by the end of the year. • Your child reads the packet-gets it checked off by an adult, then gets the next packet. • There are 11 Packets. • Big Tip…Be Consistant • You’ll have an amazing Reader when they are finished!!
Baggy Books • Children still need real books to foster the love of reading. So… • 5 books will come home on Mondays • Returned on Friday • Raz-Kids, Light Steps, Baggy Books (20 minutes total each night)
Show and Teach • Instead of Show and Tell • Each student will be given a date to present • Teach the class how to do something • Up to 10 minutes • We will start on September 23rd • We’ll do it again in January • Don’t make it harder than it is
Monthly Newsletter and Webpage • Each month I will email a monthly newsletter. • The newsletter will also be posted on my webpage. • If you don’t have email or would like a paper copy, let me know and I will send one home with your child. • I have Webpage. From the South Weber home page, find me under the faculty.
Supplies • 1-2 pencils • A couple of glue sticks • Backpack • Large Oatmeal container • If you would like to donate $2-$3 to help cover the cost of binders for memory books
Book Orders • Once per month • Due on the 10th unless I let you know of a date change • Order online-earn a free book for you and one for our class • Activation Code GPHHB
Misc… • Lunch Money • Homework • Grades • Task Wall • Birthdays • Finishing work • Giving Tree
Classroom Management Plan Our Rules • Follow directions 1sttime given • Keep hands, feet, mouth, and objects to self • Put people up, not down • Use appropriate voice level • Use all materials appropriately. • Be the boss of you.
Consequences If you follow our rules, you get… • Fun Friday • Stars on the star chart • Rocks in the “We Rock” jar • Stickers • Extra recess time If you don’t follow our rules, you get… • A verbal warning • 2 reminder sticks (first term only) • To pull your Green card • Yellow card- 5 minutes- “The Book” • Red card- 10 minutes- “The Book” • Purple card- full recess- “The Book”
