What is NEWFlex? • The NASA Employee Work Schedule Flexibility (NEWFlex) is a work schedule that provides employees maximum flexibility to manage workload and balance their work and home life. • NEWFlex is optional. • NEWFlex is subject to supervisory approval. • Pilot begins November 1st
Who is eligible? All full-time and part-time employees, including Team Leaders, Supervisors, and Senior Executive Service (SES) members.
Features Maximum flexibility in daily scheduling • Extended hours of work (6:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.) • Core Hours Wednesday (10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.) • Maximum 12 hours worked daily • Option to split the day • Work hours may vary • One-hour glide time
Features cont. • The maximum number of credit hours one can carry from one pay period to the other remains 24 hours • Employees are not entitled to night premium pay for non-overtime work • Full time employees receive 8 hours of holiday pay for nonwork on a holiday as a matter of Federal wide rule • A NEWFlex work schedule can be combined with 3 days or 24 hours of telework
