  2. Issues relating to Nurse Roles • Concern: Inequality of Banding levels – go from Band 5 – 8. Issue particularly for nurses working in DGHs; • Number of patients per PDSN – some areas have 70 patients per PDSN – others 200! • PGDs & issues around prescribing / dose adjustment for PDSNs

  3. Issues relating to Patients • Concern: Care of Child at school – many on multiple injection schemes – who injects? • Things to consider on school trips – providing appropriate food etc • DLA – Disability Living Allowance – Nurses spend time helping families – needs standardisation

  4. Transitional Services • To ensure that the transition from paediatric to adult services is as smooth as possible • How can we improve this area?

  5. Standards • Need to meet them! • NSF, NICE, HCC • Making Every Young Person with Diabetes Matter

  6. PCT issues • Lack of supplies to patients – eg blood test strips – restriction of supply • Access to & funding for pumps – still inequalities - despite NICE guidance

  7. Strategic Planning • Darzi – planning future services • Obesity – is one of the priorities for the SHA • Pathways of Care – need these to be standard set for all to adhere to
