  1. 10 STEP PROCESS TO HANDMADE SOAP AT HOME /artisna.marketplace /artisna.marketplace /artisna

  2. The way to a fresh and rejuvenating morning is through a bath that lifts your spirits and mind. If you ever thought about making handmade soaps at home, this is your chance to do it right. www.artisna.com

  3. Basic Requirements of Making Soap At Home • 100 % sodium hydroxide commonly called lye in crystal form • Stainless steel utensils, ceramic bowls and ladles and wooden spoons • A pint and quart canning jar for measurements • Old newspapers for protecting your surfaces • Stainless steel thermometer to measure temperatures of lye and additives • An old towel for wrapping the molds www.artisna.com

  4. Let’s start with a simple yet refreshing handmade mint soap recipe. You will need the following ingredients: • About 4 ounces or 113 grams of Avocado Oil • Close to 24 ounces or 700 grams of Coconut Oil • Around 28 ounces or 800 grams of Olive Oil • You can also add about 2 ounces or 60 grams or Shea or Mango Butter • 255 grams of lye (sodium hydroxide) • More than 500 grams of fresh mint paste or you can use min-infused water or mint tea www.artisna.com

  5. Cover your work area with old newspapers. Put on your gloves and measure the water and the lye. Try to keep them in the ratio 2:1 (water to lye). Slowly pour the lye into the water while stirring and standing back to avoid any fumes. Now allow the lye to sit down as the water starts to clear up. www.artisna.com

  6. Now add all your oils together in the pint jar and heat them up to a temperature of about 120 degrees in a microwave. You can also use a shallow pan filled with water and put the pint containing the oils in it to heat them. www.artisna.com

  7. Next step is to wait for both the lye and the oils to cool down to a temperature between 95° and 105°. Pour the heated oils into your mixing bowl and start adding the lye slowly while stirring it to mix everything well. www.artisna.com

  8. Keep on stirring by hand until the mixture lightens in color and becomes thicker in consistency. It will soon be at “trace” and then add your herbs and other additions such as oatmeal, cinnamon, and of course mint paste or min-infused water, etc. www.artisna.com

  9. Stir the mix thoroughly until everything is combined and pour it into mold(s). www.artisna.com

  10. The next step is to cover the mold with plastic and set the whole thing in an old towel. Cover it up nicely to trap in the residual heat so that the saponification process converts the base ingredients into soap. www.artisna.com

  11. Let the molds rest for about 24 to 48 hours. Soon the mixture will be completely solidified. You can then take it out of the mold and cut your soap out in pieces. Allow it to cure for about a month and then you are done. Start using your handmade soap as you would any other soap. www.artisna.com
