3. 3 Massachusetts Epidemiological WorkgroupStatewide Broader Purpose:
Enhance data sharing capabilities for tracking emerging drug trends, measuring capacity and focusing and coordinating all substance abuse prevention resources on those communities and people most in need and most vulnerable.
Reach consensus on common data elements and share data for common planning purposes and make recommendations on state resource allocation base on priorities.
Conduct a statewide, regional and local assessment and gap analysis.
Update resource assessments and need indicators on a yearly basis. (Develop capacity and train regional staff in order to maintain regional data and keep plans up-to-date.)
Geo-map areas of need, area resources and capacity and other efforts.
Make recommendations about the content, presentation, and accessibility of data ( i.e. data warehouse development)
4. 4 Governors Interagency Council (IAC) Roles SPF-SIG Specific IAC Roles
Oversee the implementation of SPF-SIG goals, engage Key stakeholders, ratify/select priority focus for the SPF-SIG initiative, final approval of distribution of grant funds to communities
Broad Statewide IAC Roles
Provide executive level leadership to:
Maximize and align available resources for addressing substance use issues
Develop unified strategies to drive changes in the substance abuse prevention and treatment systems
Unify the authority of the Governor’s separate alcohol and drug advisory councils
