Aquatic Renewable Energy Technologies (Aqua-RET) 2 Workshop Vocational Training in Marine Renewable Energy Technologies 3rd International Conference on Ocean Energy in Bilbao 5th September 2010 Introduction to Aqua-RET 2 presented by John Coleman, La Tene Maps
Aquatic Renewable Energy Technologies (Aqua-RET) 2(2009-2011) • Based on a previous Leonardo da Vinci project; Aqua-RET 1 (2006-2008) • Aqua-RET 1 set out to show the user, how these technologies work (Run of River, Tidal Impoundment, Tidal Stream, Wave and Offshore Wind), where and how they fit into the landscape and how they benefit the economy Aqua-RET 1 Deliverables: • E-learning Tool available online www.aquaret.com and CDROM available in English and partially available in Greek, Romanian and Portuguese • 5 Technology Posters available in English, Greek, Romanian and Portuguese
www.aquaret.com 5 e-learning modules with supporting information is available as an e-learning tool: Run of River, Tidal Impoundment, Tidal Stream, Wave and Offshore Wind. The entire content of the e-learning tool (except downloads) is available in all partner languages; English, Greek, Romanian and Portuguese. The e-learning programme is primarily aimed at planners and energy advisors. However, as the website assumes that the user has no specialist knowledge of the subject it should be of interest to anyone interested in renewable energy or the marine and aquatic environments.
www.aquaret.com - 9 illustrations displaying the sources of aquatic energy - 19 illustrations displaying the energy processes - 23 illustrations of the different technology devices - 19 animations displaying the different technology devices - 26 illustrations displaying moorings and foundations for the energy devices - 1 illustration displaying supporting activities
Educational series of five posters on the marine renewable energy technologies: - Run of River - Tidal Impoundment - Tidal Stream - Wave - Offshore Wind All are available in each of the partner languages; English, Greek, Romanian, Portuguese. Available as PDFs downloadable from the website and also in print format.
Other useful resources: • 1) Specific country information • Information on factors which impact the suitability for the development of aquatic renewable energy projects in Cyprus, Greece, Portugal, Romania and the UK • Available in the native language and English • 2) Aqua-RET manual • Available as a PDF download • 3) Teacher manual • - Available as a PDF download • Highlights the educational potential of the project for: • Primary, secondary and tertiary education • Continual Professional Development (CPD) • Briefing material • 4) Expected Learning Outcomes Charts • - Highlights what users are expected to learn
