  2. What is SNAP? • A program that helps people purchase food for their homes • SNAP is accepted at several grocery stores, corner stores and even farmer’s markets • Look for the SNAP logo when shopping for food Community Health Center Association of Connecticut | www.chcact.org

  3. What Can You Buy With SNAP? • Foods to be prepared and eaten at home • Breads and cereals • Dairy products • Meats, nuts and eggs • Fruits and vegetables • Plants and seeds to grow foods • Nonalcoholic drinks Community Health Center Association of Connecticut | www.chcact.org

The Application Process • DSS will review the application and try to contact you for a phone interview. • If they cannot reach you, they will schedule an interview that you MUST complete • If your application is complete, they can make a decision • If they need more information, you will receive a form in the mail stating exactly what is needed Community Health Center Association of Connecticut | www.chcact.org

The Application Process • DSS will determine whether you are eligible for the program when all information is in, or the deadline for a decision has passed • You will be notified of your approval or denial by mail • If approved, you will receive your EBT card in the mail Community Health Center Association of Connecticut | www.chcact.org
