Historic Load Know Your Customer • Check historical loads of similar projects. • Compare like for like projects. • Newer Wal-Marts/Targets, within the last 8-10 years, have a grocery component (refrigeration). • Verify if the footprint of the buildings are similar. • Inquire if there is something special about this project’s service that maybe different from a “normal” load usually seen. • Office Building - Data Center or Call Center proposed? • Grocery Store – Is there an increased amount of refrigeration planned? • Manufacturing – Is the process automated?
Historic Load Know Your Customer continued • Ask the customer for an address for a similar service built and operational within the last 12-18 months to have a comparison. • Characteristics of loads to consider when sizing your services can be dependent on a couple of deciding factors for instance: • Schools- High demand for 8 hours out of the day then drop significantly, allowing the transformers time to cool. • Hospitals- Consistently high demand throughout the day, thus leaving little time for the transformers to cool. • Industrial – Are they running normal 8 hour days or 24/7? • Industrial Testing Facilities – What is the largest load that they will be testing? How long? How often?
