Basic Definitions • Responsibility -> • The trait of being answerable to someone for something • Obligation -> • Something by which a person is bound to do certain things, and which arises out of a sense of duty • Khilafat -> • Succession • Khalifa -> • A successor to a Prophet of Allah whose goal is to carry to completion the tasks of reformation and moral training that were seeded by the Prophet.

The holy Quran states: الَّذِينَ يَحْمِلُونَ الْعَرْشَ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهُ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَيُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا رَبَّنَا وَسِعْتَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ رَّحْمَةً وَعِلْماً فَاغْفِرْ لِلَّذِينَ تَابُوا وَاتَّبَعُوا سَبِيلَكَ وَقِهِمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ “Allah has endeared the faith to you and has made it look beautiful to your hearts, and He has made disbelief, wickedness and disobedience hateful to you.” [40:8]

6. The Promised Messiahas Stated: • “Disobedience to God is a dirty death which you should avoid. Turn to prayer that you should get the strength… • Whosoever does not give up association with a bad companion, who exercises an unhealthy influence over him, he is not of my community. • Whosoever does not respect his parents, whosoever does not render obedience to them…is not of my community. • Whosoever, in any way, violates the pledge he took at my hand at the time of Bai’at is not of my community.”

8. Nasirat Pledge • I bear witness that there is no God but Allah, the One, without any partner and I bear witness that Muhammadsaw is His servant and His Messenger. I solemnly promise that I shall always keep myself ready to serve Islam, my nation and my country, and shall always adhere to the truth. Insha Allah.

Practical Solutions:How we can fulfill this pledge • Serving Islam • Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIra once stated: “You should consider serving Islam as a blessing from Allah and never expect a worldly reward in return.” • Defending the Honor of Islam • Serving the Nation and Country • Truthfulness • The Holy Prophet Muhammadsaw once stated: “Truth saves and Falsehood destroys.”

11. The BEST Practical Solution: سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا “We Hear AND We Obey.” [2:286]

12. The Ultimate victory “People of the world may be inclined to think that it is Christianity which may ultimately spread throughout the world, or it may be Buddhism which will prevail in the end. But they are certainly wrong in their conjectures. Remember that nothing happens on this Earth unless it has been so willed in the Heaven. And, it is the God of Heaven who reveals to me that ultimately it will be the religion of Islam which will conquer the hearts of people.”
