The Setting • You are looking to purchase a Backhoe Loader. • This piece of equipment must meet certain specifications to accomplish specific jobs. • Using the information supplied in this document and your best judgment as a mechanic, you will research different equipment manufactures for a Backhoe Loader that meets or exceeds the given equipment specifications. • Remember the biggest and heaviest piece of equipment may not always be right for the job.

  3. The Task • You will research equipment from different equipment manufactures and collect information about specific areas of each machine. • Using this information YOU will choose the BEST Backhoe loader for the job that meets the given equipment specifications. • Follow the instructions on the following slide. • Good Luck!

  4. The Process 1) The first step is to list and review the set of specifications the backhoe must meet. The five areas will be listed on the next slide. Click on each link to display each area. 2) The second Step is to look at them individually and then start researching the manufactures links to evaluate each piece of equipment. The online brochures have this information. Use this Backhoe Evaluation Check List. 3) The third step is to choose the manufacture and model that best meets all of the listed specifications.

  8. The Conclusion After completing this activity you will have been in contact with five different equipment manufactures and the various designs used by them. You will have identified compared five different parts of backhoe construction. You will have experienced the methods used to pick the right piece of equipment per specification. Return to Start
