  3. The Background of Cal Ripken Jr. Born in Aberdeen, Maryland in 1961 Father, Cal Ripken Sr., was baseball manager Played baseball and basketball at Aberdeen High School, along with his brother, Billy Was drafted out of high school in the second round by the Baltimore Orioles

  4. Ripken’s Playing Career Came up to the Orioles in 1981-1982 Won Rookie of the Year, leading Orioles in hitting Helped lead team to World Series in 1983, being named to first all-star team and winning MVP In 1987, played alongside his brother, Billy, and was managed by father, Cal Sr.
