  3. 2) Research Questions Develop questions to pursue in your research Deepen your background knowledge Investigate key issues and debates Establish support for your viewpoint

  4. Central Research Question Too broad? Too narrow? Just right? Example Issue: Juvenile delinquency What is the 1994 rate of juvenile delinquency in the U.S.? What can we do to reduce juvenile delinquency in the U.S.? Does education play a role in reducing juvenile delinquents' return to crime?

  5. Central Research Question Just right: Does education play a role in reducing juvenile delinquents' return to crime? You will later turn your central research question into you thesis statement by providing an answer: Education plays a role in reducing juvenile delinquents’ return to crime because it gives them the resources necessary for making better decisions.

  7. Assignment: Due Tuesday Create 15 research questions that can be researched. Question #1 should be your central research question, followed by 14 other related questions. If time permits, you will have time to start at the end of class.

  8. 3) Gather Research & Create Bibliography Pg. 31 in MLA book At minimum: 3-4 books 2 periodicals (magazines/newspapers) 1 internet source Other source may be necessary to complete thorough research A bibliography is a list of sources used in paper.
