Rachel Bur Fybish, a teacher in “Almogan” preschool in Akko ,shares with you part of her ideas for Rosh Hashanah Rachel put on the floor the different symbols of Rosh Hashanah: Shofar, Apple, Pomegranate, Fish Cards and Honey She uses the idea and the music of the Hebrew song: "מתנה בהזדמנות" "A present on bargain” by Datia Ben Dor You can find this song on our website under ”The whistler and his dog”/ multimedia
One of the children gets a basket and “goes shopping”. He listens to the teacher singing and has to “buy” the right thing. For example: The teacher sings: "I took a cent, went to the shop and bought a ‘present on a bargain’ for everyone: a pomegranate.” The child has to put the pomegranate in his basket.
The child picks up the basket and walks around while all the children continue singing the song. At the end of the verse ,the child gives the present to another child who continues shopping according to the teacher’s song.
“Rosh” in Hebrew means “head”. The pictures on this page help the children learn more expressions containing the word “Rosh”: Rosh Hamigdal - the head of the tower. Rosh Chodesh - the beginning of the month. Rosh Hakvutsa- the head of the group, etc…
