How It Works • HMML provides equipment, training, and payment for local technicians • HMML coordinates cataloging if needed • HMML provides long-term digital archiving, data migration, and replacement images • owners keep copies of all images and retain publication and commercial rights • HMML may display metadata and sample images, and provide secured access to complete manuscripts for researchers

  4. HMML’s Digital Archive • 30,000 mss digitally imaged since 2003 • 5000 mss imaged in 2011 • =ca. 6,000,000 unique digital image files in RAW and JPEG format; 86 TB in RAW + 26 TB in JPEG • complete back-up, archiving, and data refreshment program
