SU Recycles • What do we recycle? • Glass, metal cans, 1 and 2 plastic • Mixed paper and newspaper • Corrugated cardboard • Batteries • Printer cartridges

Dining on Campus • Waste reduction • Trayless dining • Project Clean Plate • Recycling and composting • Local and organic food 25 – 55% reduction in food waste

Coal-Fired Steam Plant • To be replaced with gas-fired steam and chilled water plant • 872 tons (12% of burn) of coal ash recycled
Electricity • Energy management system (EMS) • Reduced consumption 10% between 2004-2009 • Building space has grown 9% • ~10% of electricity from wind and hydro
Biodiesel • All waste vegetable oil on campus is recycled and converted into biodiesel, which is used to fire special ceramic kilns. Since 2006, Professor Ben Culbertson (Art Department) has been collecting all of the waste vegetable oil on campus and making biodiesel.

Conversion of Computer Servers to Virtual Servers • 10 to 1 conversion rate • Each converted server reduces 4 tons of CO2 • Saves space and electricity
Unplug it! • New campaign to unplug everything in residence halls during breaks
