  2. Biographical Data • He was born in the capital of Germany, Berlin, in 1928. • His parents were sascha Shapiro and hanka Grothendieck. Alexander parents left him and he attended school in Hamburg ( his mother’s native town).

  3. Famous For..? • Alexander is Famous for Algebraic geometry and he also made contributions to algebraic topology, number theory, Category theory, Galois theory, commutative homological and functional analysis.

  4. Life Experiences.! • One of his life experiences that he had to deal with his father got killed by the Nazis.So he moved to France in 1941 and later entered Montpellier university after graduating from Montpellier he spent the year 1948 – 49 at the ecole normal superior in Paris. • In 1949 Grothendieck moved to the university of Nancy where he worked on functional analysis with dieudonne.
