ACTIVITY – writing your own explanation of events • Stick your map into the centre of a clean DOUBLE page in your book. Annotate it to explain the following. Make sure your notes actually use the words shown in bold…. • Which countries were annexed by the USSR (ie. added to the Soviet Union’s territory) in 1945? How? • Which countries became Soviet satellite states? What does this mean? What was set up in these countries? How did this go against the decision made at the Yalta Conference? • What changes were made to Poland’s borders? • What was the Iron Curtain? • Time to complete: 10 minutes
