Welcome • Security • Please use wisdom • Do not e-mail using people group and the name of the missionary in the same e-mail or publication.
Why Are We Here ? • We want to connect with those that are looking to work with _____ people group and field people __________. • We hope to work together and develop viable ideas on how to work with one another. • We would like to present some ideas to you for your consideration for the future.
Good Things are happening in Missions: • People are beginning to go on short term mission trips more than ever. • Attention is being brought more to World A or the 10/40 Window. • Churches are beginning to take a more active role in missions involvement
Something else is happening: People are also taking a perspective on missionsthat in my opinion is not the best.
Something else is happening: • We have found that many churches and other places think missions is about a trip. • Once the trip is over many say : • “I have done missions”. • Missions is not accomplsihed till Matt. 24:14 is fullfilled.
Something else is happening: • Missions, to some, has become about going to poor places to make their lives better. • That can be a part but , that is not missions. • Others can view missions as going to foreign places. • Some foreign places are sharing the gospel better than we are, even though they are poor. • IE: Chinese church
Something else is happening: • Some have handed missions off to others to do on their behalf. “ It is not the job of the IMB to do missions on behalf of Southern Baptist…” • Jerry Rankin, President, IMB, SBC.
Who Owns You? Who Loves You? Who cares for you? Keith • He had teams come and they: • Some helped with money. • One put in a dental chair. • Brought some trips teams over. But…
But… There was no one working with Keith in an ongoing strategic basis to help reach the people of the Ukraine. • In his city: • 2 Million People • A hand full of churches. • The churches were very legalistic. • They do not go to where the people were. • The people had a bad image of the churches and did not desire to go to their building.

Why Are We Here ? We want to set forth a different model of missionsengagement that we think will be much more effective in reaching the ________ People.

New Model People Group Seeking to reach the UPG Church A + SIL } The Team = Field Team Church B + IMB + Church A + Golden Hills Community Church + WEC
Isn’t This What we Have ? Church LBC Field Church A School A Billy Group A
Here is What We Could Have The field needs to be free to develop discipling relationships Field Church IB People People Group Church Church A School A Group A Billy
Characteristics of the New Model • Each individual group owns the task of reaching the UPG. • This is not for the field person. • This is working with field people on the same team to reach the UPG. • This is a network which means each group/person is responsible for making it happen.
Characteristics of the New Model • Has the long term in mind. • This take time to see the strategy come to fruit. • Some may not take the long run approach, that is OK. • Stateside churches and groups work together in order to carry out the task. • Example: Golden Hills Community, Sonlight and LBC in working among the C.A. people. • Field and stateside work on strategy together.
A Question to Consider • Who leads the team? • Christ is the leader in helping us work as a body. • All have input and work together. • Each team member has their role and expertise. • Consider this…
…Consider How the Body Works, • Missionaries live on the field and their role is to help determine field appropriate strategy. • But the missionary is not the only one to suggest strategy.
…Consider How the Body Works, • Stateside can also suggest new ideas. • But… we must remember that the field is the one who lives there and understands better what will work or not work.
On This Side of the Ocean • We work to help establish stateside mobilization. • The field works with us and is free to suggest new strategies and plans for reaching churches. • Even though we are the ones trying to formulate the plan here the field can see things we overlook .
This Is a Team Built on the Body of Christ Principle • It is like a family relationship. • There are problems. • There are things to work through. • But we commit to work through them.
Other Things to Consider When Working Together As a Team • Honest Communication • Communicate often • Lay aside the pride
By flying in a “V” formation, a flock of Geese add 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew alone. People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going quicker and easier because they are traveling together as a team.
The end products for these two days: • Get to know one another. • That we could brain storm some ideas and find creative ways to connect with each other in order to increase our effectiveness in reaching the IB people.
For some , we could develop some strategic plans in the following areas: • Strategic prayerinitiatives. • Develop projects that are strategic to seeing a CPM among the IB people. • Seek new strategic partners willing to commit to the long run of reaching the IB people.
