  3. There’s gold in them thar hills! But this will be the city where Silver is King! • Leadville’s first “Gold Rush began in 1860 after Abe Lee discovered gold in an area he named California Gulch. Within a short five years the area changed in many ways.

  6. Show Me the Money!! • Famous names in Leadville include; H.A.W. Tabor, Meyer Guggenheim, Margaret “Maggie” Brown, Marshall Field, Charles Boettcher, David May (May Co) and Charles H. Dow (Dow and Jones) all have historic ties to Leadville. But this town is living history. What better way to learn it than to do it? While much of the original mining evidence has been reclaimed by man or mother nature, there is still plenty to see.
